B-17 Yoke - 3D Scanning & Modeling

As part of an internship at Gulfstream, I created an accurate 3D solid model of a B-17 Yoke to support the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force restoration of B-17 Bomber. This model was created to machine a replacement part, as the original had deteriorated past the point of display.

The original yoke was 3D Scanned using a handheld laser Zscanner. The output mesh was processed using RapidForm, and reference geometry was extracted as splines to be used in CATIA for 3D model construction.

Created Spring 2012.
